Our Club
Our History
Coastal Waters Netball Club was established in 1979 and was formed from the GosfordYouth Club. The first registration day for Coastal Waters Netball Club was held on 17/2/1979.
At that point a name had not been decided for the new Club, some of the suggested names were:
United Netball Club, Brisbane Waters Netball Club, Bellbird Netball Club, Sandpiper Netball Club Coastal Waters Netball Club and the rest is history!
The first President of Coastal Waters was Pat Courts, and the inaugural Umpires Convenor was Barbara McCarthy who is still a current committee member for Coastal Waters Netball Club, what a fantastic service Barb has given to Coastal Waters Netball Club.
The original club colours were bone with green and the original uniforms were made during a working bee by volunteers. Our Club has continued with the green and included black and white, there has been various uniforms over the 42 years from the box pleat tunic, pleated skirt, lycra skirt and top and more currently the popular dress. Coastal Waters has also introduced in 2021 the option for players to wear shorts and singlet this allows more flexibility for players to choose which uniforms suits them and allows players to play in whatever uniform they are comfortable in.
It was also decided that the theme for the team names would be Coastal bird names. Some of the original team names were Seagulls, Wagtails, Ladybirds, Vultures, Sparrows, Penguins, Toucans, Lovebirds, Pee Wees, Budgies, Hawks, Flamingoes, Pelicans. Most of these names are still used for Coastal Waters current teams.
We look forward to having you with us on your netball journey!
